Varsity Chorus is performance oriented vocal organization using and extending the basic principles of vocal production and music fundamentals. Ear training, breathing and tone production, vowel shape and tone color, tuning, ensemble singing and blend are all stressed, reviewed and practiced culminating in three major concerts: Fall, Christmas and Spring. Many of these students elect to participate in the all-school musical presented every other year. Analyzing text and composition of each piece offers insight into the original aesthetic motives of the composer and an exploration of the performers own interpretation. A brief tryout with the instructor which includes a test on range and pitch matching is required. |
